2023 NIA Start-Up Challenge and Accelerator: Fostering Entrepreneurial Diversity
Individuals from diverse backgrounds can provide unique and valuable contributions in the research and development of life science innovations that prevent disease, prolong life, and promote health. However, certain groups (such as women and individuals from racial/ethnic minoritized groups) remain underrepresented in the U.S. biomedical sciences and in life science entrepreneurship.

For the second year, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) has launched an exciting challenge prize competition, the 2023 NIA Start-Up Challenge and Accelerator. The goal of the challenge is to stimulate innovation and foster diversity in aging research and entrepreneurship by providing cash prizes and non-cash prizes, such training, mentorship, networking, and exposure to help participants overcome barriers to participating in life sciences entrepreneurship.

NIA invites researchers and entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds with a demonstrated need for entrepreneurial resources who have innovative ideas for science-driven technologies and products that have the potential to increase the diversity of NIA-funded small business research and development.

This webinar will provide prospective applicants with an overview of the program, including guidance on eligibility, application requirements, and tips for success, and the NIA small business research priorities designed for the program. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a live Q&A to get more information about the challenge.
