Free Virtual Insurance Workshop - November 15, 2021, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. (CT)
Flood risk is changing in Arkansas and New Mexico. In some areas, preliminary flood maps (Flood Insurance Rate Maps, or FIRMs) have been or soon will be released. In other areas, the preliminary maps are now effective. With the release of new flood maps, residents and business owners may find that their flood risk has changed. Some will find they are actually at a higher risk than they thought, and others will see that their flood risk is lower.

To help better understand these changes, FEMA is hosting a 2-hour online workshop on how map changes can affect building and flood insurance requirements and insurance options.

During the workshop, attendees will:
• Hear about the different mapping projects ongoing in your area;
• Learn about the potential impacts on flood insurance and building requirements;
• Hear more about the National Flood Insurance Program’s (NFIP) current insurance rating options and what changes with the NFIP’s new Risk Rating 2.0;
• Review recent related changes to the NFIP, including Risk Rating 2.0; and
• Walk away with online tools and resources to assist you.

This information is valuable to insurance agents, real estate professionals, lenders, builders, surveyors, community officials, and others living and/or working throughout Arkansas and New Mexico - especially where mapping projects have reached a key mapping milestone (Craighead, Greene, Jackson, Pulaski, Washington and Woodruff Counties in Arkansas and Roosevelt County in New Mexico).

Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs) can receive 2 Continuing Education Credits (CECs). Please indicate on your Zoom registration if you are requesting CFM CECs (Yes or No).

Don’t miss this workshop. By attending you will be better prepared to help your clients, as they will view you as an important resource to accurately explain their changing flood risk.
